Froch 1, Kessler 1By: Team Kessler @ 28. May, 2013
IBF Super-Middleweight Champion Carl Froch evened the score on Saturday night in London, edging WBA champ Mikkel Kessler in another 12-round thriller that had a sell-out crowd of 18.000 fans on their feet.
Froch got off to the better start, but Kessler picked up as the rematch lived up to its billing and turned into an epic battle. Both fighters traded heavy punches, and Kessler almost stopped the Cobra in the 11th - only for the Nottingham fighter to come back strong in the 12th. The judges scored the bout 118-110, 116-112 and 115-113 for Froch, while many fans and experts felt that the result should have been much closer. US coach Virgil Hunter scored it a draw. "It was a tough fight," Kessler said. "It´s not easy to fight in front of this great crowd. Carl is a tough man and we left it all in the ring again. I should have stopped him in the 11th but I didn´t have the energy to follow it up. I will have to watch the fight on tape again before I can say who won."
